No.36, Southampton Buildings, London
I found the following information concerning Edward Gaubert’s lease of premises at No. 36 Southampton Buildings in 1850 on the internet at A2A (Access to Archives). I then visited the Wiltshire & Swindon Record Office at Chippenham to examine the originals.
The archive reference is 490/601 Earl of Radnor- title deeds of individual places - London: Holborn property
The file begins with the lease by Ann Green, widow from the Earl of Radnor dated 27th March 1847 for a term of 27.5 yrs. Her conditions included keeping interior and exterior woodwork white, plus the front of the premises also had to be kept white. No part of the premises could revert to being a shop. The front had to be kept as a private dwelling-house. No manufacturer, bricklayer, carpenter, bagnio-keeper, blood boiler, sugar refiner, or any dangerous or noisesome or offensive trade or business was allowed. In the table below, this lease is reproduced in Ann Green images 01 - 07.
The file continues ( see images Edward 01 - 06 below) with the lease of the property from Ann by Edward Gaubert of Park Villas, Richmond.
