By chance I examined this book at The Guildhall Library, London in 2003. It records that Peter Dominique Jean, an ormolu maker, worked for the company of Gaubert & Holland and he gilded the ornaments of an inlaid commode during the period 1783-1786 that was for Carlton House (Prince of Wales's home). Guillaume Gaubert of Panton Street, London, was a maker of ornamental furniture during the period 1785-1795. Horace Walpole visited Carlton House in 1785 and attributed the decoration to 'Gobert'. In 1795 Guillaume claimed £ 1,133. 19s. 8d for work on ornaments for Carlton House.

This Guillaume must be the same person as Guillaume Gaubert whose will is shown at for 1800 and the man in the 'Monsieur Gaubert' letter. He was hardly ever heard of again. By contrast ' Holland ' was the famous Henry Holland (1746-1806), architect and furniture designer, of Hans Place. Much of the furniture at Carlton House and Brighton Pavilion were made from his designs. I've included this out of interest but I don't think he is directly related to our Gaubert family.
