My mother's cousin, Claude
Murray,
emigrated from London with his wife Nan and daughter Jean, to
Capetown, South Africa on the ship Umtali. I can clearly recall being
taken by my parents to the ship's side in a London dock and
waving
farewell to Jean as she looked out through as porthole. Claude became a
headmaster in Rondisbusch,
one of the southern suburbs of Capetown.
I don't recall ever hearing from them again. The following records show
that their emigration was in 1947
