GENBERT
– Births &
Christenings
Name: | Mary Genbert |
Baptism Date: | 3 Mar 1688-1689 |
Parish: | St Giles, Cripplegate |
County: | London |
Borough: | City of London |
Parent(s): | Jam, Sarah |
Record Type: | Christening |
Register Type: | Parish Register |
The christening on the 3rd March 1689 at St Giles, Cripplegate in the City of London of Mary Genbert, daughter of James (watchmaker) and Sarah. The actual entry reads more like 'Goubert' or 'Gaubert'. If it is the former then he may well be related to the famous French clockmaker Jacobus Goubert who worked in London. If it is 'Gaubert' then this would be proof positive that the Gauberts were established in London before the Battle of the Boyne in 1690. |
